January. 31 Photos. Week Three

Seven more days, seven more images. The last week flew by, as usual. The weather, our health, it was all a roller coaster this past week. But we got outside. I'm determined to get the kids out every single day, regardless of the gear we have to layer on. They need to run in the open air. It keeps us all better spirited. 15. January 15. Chasing the waves.

12 from our 12

Home again, home again, jiggity-jig. Our two-week vacation has come to an end. I didn't blog while we were gone, so I'm a few days late in posting these 12 images from the 12th. I'm also working on a video from 12.12.12; looking forward to putting that together. Good morning, the 12th

October Sun

Fall photos. Yesterday I realized I hadn't taken much of the kiddos outdoors. The weather's been perfect, with an abnormal amount of October sun. But for some unfortunate reason, we've been inside cleaning. I think all the sun pouring in my windows has made me want to deep clean- it likes to show off the dust & dirt we accumulate on a daily basis. In all honesty, I'm not a cleaner- I really don't like it, so when I get in a 'deep-cleaning' mood, I have to take advantage. It's not much fun for the kiddos, though, so we headed outside yesterday afternoon. It was beautiful. The boys played, Ella napped & I took pictures. Once she woke up, I even attempted a photo of me & the three of them. It wasn't easily accomplished, but we all made it in the frame, so for that I'm grateful.

It's Hat Season

We've hit hat-wearing season here in Kodiak. The air is crisp with fall, with winter creeping around the corner. EllaGrace, of course, has lots of hats to keep her sweet little head warm. There are three I especially love & this is one of them. It was a hand-me-down that I tried on her yesterday. It fits perfectly, so will join the rotation process with her other two absolutely adorable, perfectly fitting hats. As a result of her cute hat, I took some pictures.

cm monthly challenge: back to school

School. Every day, we are all learning. New adventures teach us, as do new journeys. At the moment, this journey is kindergarten. Ry started just about a month ago & loves it. Some mornings are harder to wake than others, but he's always eager to head out the door. He proudly writes his name the 'new' way- with a capital 'R' & then lowercase 'ylee.' He's also learning to read. In fact, he's obsessed with both. Brings back warm memories of pretending to write cursive- everywhere.

Because he is a full-time reader & writer, he needs to keep paper with him at all times, just in case he needs to jot some notes or draw a sketch. It's quite cute. He got these sticky notes yesterday from my parent's house, so he can write down his bits & pieces. I had a different plan in mind for this month's theme, but when he asked me how to write 'I go to school' that plan went out the window...he continued to write 'I go to school' on multiple sticky notes, which now grace our fridge. I'm happy to say he is loving kindergarten & I hope your school year is starting off positive, as well!

Summertime

'Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.' ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Summertime. My favorite time of year. Perhaps that goes without saying. We haven't had the warmest summer- we're getting some chilly, wet days, while the rest of the states are sweltering in 100+ degrees. But they're still good, relaxing days. Soaking it all up before we begin school in the fall. I'm not quite sure I'm ready for that reality, but it is true. Ry is going to be a kindergartner in one more month. For now, we are enjoying late nights & late mornings. After all, it's summertime.

Now head on over to visit Mindy's summertime.
